What are the spam protection settings in the Toolkit?

Your Toolkit (http://toolkit.ilisys.com.au) enables you to tag and delete spam emails.

For each email address, you can select from three different levels of spam control. Used in conjunction with filters on our mail client, you can reduce the amount of spam you have to deal with manually.

This is the default setting, and applies to all emails that pass through our spam scanning infrastructure.

With this setting, all emails get headers inserted as per this article, and you can use these header to filter in most emails client (with the notable exceptions of Outlook Express.)

With this setting, not only will the hidden headers be added to emails, but the subject line of the email will have [SPAM] prepended to it where the email scores about 5.0 in SpamAssassin. This makes it easier to filter in your email client as many clients can automatically generate a filter based on the subject line of the email. In fact, with Outlook Express you must select at least this option.

With this setting, as well as headers being inserted and the subject line being altered for emails scoring about 5.0, emails that score above 8.0 will be deleted and will not be delivered by our mail system.

We consider emails that score 5.0 or more to be most probably spam, and emails that score 8.0 or more to be almost certainly spam, and hence safe to delete automatically. However, there is the chance that a legimate email may be incorrectly classified. If you think that may have happened to you, turn off the delete option and get your correspondent to send the email again. Let us know, by forwarding the problem email as an attachment (so we can see all the headers) to support@ilisys.com.au. This will help us fine tune our spam filter software.
