CASE STUDY — BigDayOut.com
The Big Day Out is an annual music festival held in several cities in Australia and New Zealand.
Art & Data partnered with Ilisys to ensure smooth sailing for the Big Day Out website launch in 2011. This website drives high traffic consistently as thousands of people purchase tickets for the event.
When ticket sales for the Melbourne event went live, the Ilisys infrastructure was handling over 60,000 simultaneous visitors, 1,500 requests per second and pulling over 400 megabits/second of traffic while still handling the usual daily demands. Ilisys users were unaware of the heavy traffic flow to the site as the website performance was optimised exceptionally. It was just another day for our clients.
Art & Data, Silverstripe (CMS) and Ilisys came together to ensure that our platform would handle the high volume of traffic anticipated - which created an ideal user experience for the online community involved. On a typical day when new tickets went on sale, the site served over 96,000 visitors and 400,000 page views — equating to over 9,000,000 hits!

Rally Australia is the local round of the FIA World Rally Car championship, a global motorsport phenomenon followed by millions of eager fans worldwide. The performance of the website is critical. It speaks to fans, competitors, local residents and sponsors.
During the running of Rally Australia the site served over 5,800,000 hits, 135,000 visitors and 800,000 page views without down time or delay.
