Dynamic subdomain facility

December 28th, 2005

Dynamic subdomains are a new feature of our Linux Cluster wherein requests to test.yourdomainname.com.au are served from www.yourdomainname.com.au/test.

Dynamic subdomains provide a simple way to create a self contained website that still relates back to your main site, for example a support portal.

To make use of Dynamic subdomains first enable the feature within your Toolkit, then create a directory under www. This directory will then be accessible as both dirname.yourdomainname.com.au and www.yourdomainname.com.au/dirname.

When first enabling Dynamic subdomains the subdomains will not be available until midnight that night.

phpMyAdmin is a tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web. Currently it can create and drop databases, create/drop/alter tables, delete/edit/add fields, execute any SQL statement, manage keys on fields, manage privileges, export data into various formats and is available in 50 languages.

To access your branded phpMyAdmin interface, navigate to http://phpmyadmin.your-domain.com.au.

To rebrand the interface with your own logo, simply upload the image to your-domain.com.au/__store/img/logo_login.gif

New DNS management tools

December 28th, 2005

This morning we released an enhanced DNS management interface in the Toolkit. This interface allows customers who are comfortable with the DNS to manage all aspects of their domain name configuration.

Specifically, the interface provides the following capabilities:

- Reseller editing of the SOA records (contact email address, TTL and white label nameservers);

- Creation and editing of A and TXT records for the domain. As such SPF TXT records can be created for the domain;

- No limits on the number of records creatable per host. As such things like DNS Round-robins and A and TXT records for the same domain name are possible;

- Full customer control of MX settings. Note, this feature requires activation - please call Technical Support if you would like this feature.

Unbranded Toolkit feature

December 14th, 2005

We now offer the facility for resellers to offer their customers an unbranded Toolkit facility that they can refer their customers to.

This unbranded Toolkit uses the same SSL security as the standard Toolkit, but with a generic domain. Please contact us for details of the unbranded toolkit, including the generic domain name.

New Toolkit features

October 31st, 2005

At Ilisys we’re committed to constantly improving our services. There are several new features available in the Toolkit we’d like to tell you about.

  • Automatic subdomain creation
    Through the Toolkit you now can enable automatic subdomains for Linux domains. This means subdomains such as test.mydomainname.com.au will show the content of /www/test.
  • Usage information for storage and transfers
    There are expanded Toolkit facilities for viewing storage and transfers information from either a Reseller or Package Manager perspective.
  • Customisable warning thresholds for storage and transfers
    As an Account Manager, there is the ability to set warning thresholds for storage and transfers. Report alerts detailing hosting accounts exceeding a threshold are emailed to the Account Manager on a daily basis.
  • Simplified Reseller sales process
    The sales process for Resellers has been simplified - enter the domain name and relevant domain registration information and you’re done!
  • You have full control over the DNS management of your domains
    This allows you to create CNAME and A records. ‘CNAME’ records allow you to create a record that points to another record. ‘A’ records allow you to create a record that points to a specific IP address.
    Soon we will be releasing direct editing of white label dns records and custom MX records, until then please contact Tech Support to enable this.

Please feel welcome to suggest any new features that would improve your hosting experience. Drop us a line at service@ilisys.com.au or talk directly to us by calling 1800 999 618.

Transfer allowances increased

July 27th, 2005

As the average Ilisys website has grown, so has its traffic.

To reflect this growth, the base monthly transfer allowance has been increased to 10 GB. Transfer allowances of 25, 50, 75 or 100 GB are also available.

These allowance upgrades have been applied to all current hosting packages and have been made possible by the close relationships we maintain with Optus, our primary tier-1 bandwidth provider.

Data storage increased

July 27th, 2005

Each month, Ilisys customers put more content online and use more data storage.

To allow for this continued growth, Ilisys data storage allowances have been increased, effective today. The base data storage allowance was increased to 500 MB, while data storage allowances may now be upgraded to any multiple of 1 GB.

Data storage allowances continue to cover all data except that required for logs or Urchin reports.

All Linux hosted data continues to be backed up hourly and may be SnapRestored using your Toolkit or by contacting Technical Support.
