What spam protection does email have?

Spam, also known as unsolicited commercial email (UCE) or unsolicited bulk email (UBE), has been growing at ever increasing rates.

Ilisys email servers have two levels of protection against customers receiving unwanted spam.

Firstly, our mail server will reject connections from know spammers using a realtime block list supplied by Spamhaus.org. This is a conservative block list that only lists known spammers.

Secondly, all email destined to be forwarded on or delivered to a local email account will be scanned by the best of breed, open source package SpamAssassin.

This assigns a score to each piece of email, where the higher the score, the greater the likelihood that it is spam. Each email will have additional headers added to it that can be used to filter spam in your email client.

You also have further control over spam email through the Toolkit Email configuration / Spam email protection.
